Return Home if You Have 🙅♂No Business in🇬🇭 Ghana – Nigerian🇳🇬 Union to Colleagues
The Nigerian Union of Traders in the Ashanti Region of Ghana has advised its members in the Republic who do not have legitimate businesses in the country to leave for Nigeria peacefully.
“We the Executives of the community are telling them to leave Ghana. If you don’t have anything doing in Ghana, go back to Nigeria. That is what we are telling them. If they don’t have anything doing in Ghana it is better go-to Nigeria” Chief Kizito President of Nigerian Union of Traders in the Ashanti Region advised.
The Union’s statement comes in reaction to recent Nigerian involvement in high profile criminal activities like rape, robbery and the kidnapping of two Canadians in Kumasi.
These criminal activities of some Nigerian nationals in the country have also triggered anger in the Ashanti Region where angry traders started closing down shops belonging to Nigerians asking them to go back to their country because they were engaging in retailing violating some laws of the country.
Nigerian High Commissioner to Ghana Ambassador, Micheal Olufemi Abikoye who was responding to the issue earlier on Tuesday in a press statement said “xenophobic tendencies” had the potential to mar Ghana-Nigeria relations.
