NDE: 27,000 youths to benefit from FG’s vocational training in Borno
The National Directorate of Employment on Wednesday said that over 27,000 unemployed youths would benefit from its various training and empowerment programmes in Borno state.
The NDE Director-General, Minister of Agriculture Alhaji Mustapha Baba Shehuri disclosed this in Damboa road at the opening ceremony of the orientation programme for new intakes to NDE programme, keynoting that 774,000 youths will be employed under the vocational training.
Prof Zulum Babagana, represented by the H.E Deputy Governor, Umar Kadafur Usman said the youths would be trained and empowered through various programmes initiated by the directorate.
He said the Federal Government is highly committed to reducing unemployment rate among youths in borno state.
He said President Muhammadu Buhari has demonstrated clear determination to empower youths through articulated programmes and sustained support to the relevant agencies.
“We are gathered today to flag off on behalf of the federal government of Nigeria, vocational training for youths and women to under our Extended Special Public Works (ESPWs) under the federal ministry of labor and employment.
“Over 774,000 unemployed youths and women would benefit from the programmes nation-wide.
Under the programme, 774,000 itinerant Nigeria unemployed youths and women 1,000 per Local Government Area in the country have been recruited for engagement in various community works that benefit their respective communities.
According to FG, the sum of N1,62 billion as direct allowance to be paid to the participants.
