Omokri made the remark while chastising Gumi for his remarks about Biafra’s indigenous people (IPOB).
Herdsmen and bandits only kidnap students for money, according to Gumi, while IPOB killed security personnel in the Southeast.
“IPOB is targeting the police, the army, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), and other government institutions; killing our guys in service,” the Islamic cleric claimed in an interview with Arise TV.
”And the herders are stealing children not to murder them but to make money; so how can you equate someone who is directly killing our valiant warriors to someone who is kidnapping children for the purpose of making money rather than killing them? Look, we need to be more equitable in our actions.”
The former presidential aide condemned the Islamic cleric’s remark and suggested Gumi may be arrested for uttering it.
In a tweet, Omokri wrote: “What is wrong with this man? Herdsmen don’t just abduct schoolchildren. Even if that is true (it is not), what is ‘only’ about that? Herdsmen have killed thousands of citizens in every Nigerian state. Gumi may set Nigeria on fire. How can he say this and walk free?”
IPOB and its security wing, the Eastern Security Network (ESN), are accused of assassinating security personnel and torching government buildings in the Southeast.
The secessionist faction, on the other hand, had maintained its innocence.
